On May 15th, we will select 6 of the most interesting contributions to the Big Picture for our fifth giveaway and they will win prizes by our sponsors. If you already participated in the project, you don’t need to do anything, you are automatically eligible to win a prize.
What are we looking for? We are looking for personal stories that will let us know a bit more about yourself:

For Culture Days Sophie Babeanu (art therapist in North Vancouver) and I, Sandrine Pelissier (visual artist in North Vancouver) have arranged a few drawing stations in the studio with simple instructions.
At each station, you could try a different drawing technique.
Like drawing with your non- dominant hand
Or finding a drawing from random scribbles on paper
Or drawing a self portrait with a mirror monoprint easy technique.
Once the drawings were made, participants had the opportunity to have their drawings scanned and to upload them to the Big Picture Art Project
See you next year !
We are encouraging art teachers and artists to use our project as the starting point for any drawing or writing activities they would like to organize. So let us know and we will be happy to help promote your activity!
Culture days are coming up and Sophie and I will host an activity in my North Vancouver studio.
September 30th and October 1st
10 am to 4 pm
125 Garden avenue in North Vancouver
You want to participate in the project and:
– The idea of drawing sends chills down your spine?
– You have an interesting story to share?
– You could not use a computer if your life depended on it?
– What on earth is a scanner?
– Last time you drew something was in elementary school
– Your dog ate your drawing
– You feel like having a conversation with two heavily french accented ladies.
Sandrine and Sophie will show you some simple drawing techniques: line contour drawing, line and cross hatching, cross contour drawing, scumbling technique, drawing with twigs. You will also have the chance to try for yourself some fun techniques like continuous drawing, blind continuous drawing, and drawing with your non dominant hand.
Supplies will be provided.
