The Story behind my drawing:
Mischka was a dog with a history before I rescued her. Born in Edmonton, survived on the streets of Vancouver and then given up to the SPCA. Tough as nails, stubborn as all get-out, this little keeshond dame was the perfect match for me. She saw me as a like-minded soul and we bonded immediately. What a character! Thirteen years old when I found her, she stayed with me for 3 years before her soul left for paths unknown. I promised her a forever home, so her body rests in my garden.
My connection to #Vancouver or what Vancouver evokes to me:
Vancouver has personality. I like wandering its streets, checking out the various unique neighbourhoods and finding cool shops and cafes. I’m inspired to create and generally take a sketchbook with me when I venture downtown.

The Story behind my drawing:
This is the last drawing in a series of four. I am being pushed along on a hospital trolley out of the operating theatre and back to the hospital ward. I real life I was wearing a hospital ‘gown’ – but I feel toally naked! I have has a hip replacement operation . The anaestheic is still working and I cannot feel the pain – yet.

I would like to travel to Vancouver by train and then explore your city port by boat!

The Story behind my drawing:
My drawing represents the primal connection that we all have to the Mother Earth. We are all conceived of her and therefore, have interconnectedness with all that breathe her oxygen. She is the center point for all life; plant, animal and human. I have a strong connection to the coast of Vancouver, it pulls me. Being there excites my soul. However, for the time I live in the Interior of BC. My roots are both Salish and Okanagan. I am not sure how long I will remain here in the interior. I have no idea as of yet when this stage of my life’s purpose will come to an end here. I want this drawing to be a reminder not only me, but to you as well that no matter where life takes you, you will always be connected to your roots, and we are all connected to each other.
My connection to #Vancouver or what Vancouver evokes to me:
I am from the Salish Nation. My ancestors are a few of the ones who chose to migrate to the Okanagan. Throughout the generations the siren call of the ocean still haunts me. One day, my family and I will call Vancouver our home again.

I am a visual artist and I work range of mediums and materials and create works of art in every style. I am specialised in illustrations and have worked with top newspapers in India as an illustrator and I specifically love creating illustrations for children books and articles.This is created on the concept of the situation of a female artists struggling to survive her art career at the same time taking care of family.

I enjoy visiting new places and travelling is my passion. I aim to visit all the best places in the world and Vancouver is one of them. The city considered as one of the top five cities that have livability and quality of life is a must to visit on my list. With a healthy lifestyle, beautiful nature, mountains and water around its really be the one of the best places around the world to live

The Story behind my drawing:
I’ve lived in NYC my whole life. This is 38th St. and 8th Avenue at 5:30 P.M. I was taking a dance class and the windows overlooked this intersection. I watched the crowds of tormented souls passing by, heading home. Watching them, an idea began to form in my head: it’s time to get out of New York. And that’s what I’m doing.

When I read Vancouver, I immediately thought of the wonderful bug museum I visited there, where you could pet the bugs. No wait, that was Victoria. Which maybe is part of Vancouver? Very confusing.

The Story behind my drawing:
I live in Chennai, in Southern India. This is a sketch of the Kapaleeswarar Temple at Mylapore which is said to be a 7th century CE temple, although there are references to it even in literature of earlier periods. The structure which is seen in my sketch was probably built in the 15th or 16th century. The temples in various parts of the country have their own distinct architectural character. The Kapaleeswarar Temple is a very fine example of Dravidian Temple architecture. In 2014, in its annual list of “52 places to visit”, NY Times had listed Chennai in 26th place and had also identified Kapaleeswarar Temple as one of the major tourist attractions.
My connection to #Vancouver or what Vancouver evokes to me:
I always associate Vancouver with the Vancouver Winter Olympics which I followed closely over TV from my home in Chennai, India. While the games were very interesting I also found all the shots and snippets of Vancouver, the city, fascinating.

The Story behind my drawing:
I am currently living in Paris and this is the view from my balcony. As I sit and draw, I can hear the clink of silverware from the café across the street as people enjoy their dinner. It’s been rainy this week, so this drawing took a little longer than normal, I had to keep ducking back inside between rain showers. This is a view I’ve sketched a few times now, and each time is different depending on the light, the time of day, the mood of the clouds. I’ve done a lot of watercolor paintings around Paris, it’s such a beautiful city to sketch, but it’s nice to do away with color and just concentrate on black and white, pen and ink. I might have to go down to that café for a coffee now!
My connection to #Vancouver or what Vancouver evokes to me:
I spent a summer in Vancouver a number of years ago working on a film, and have good friends there. I would cycle around Stanley Park on the weekends, and learned to kayak in Deep Cove. I absolutely love the city!
